If you’re planning to join my online classes, it’s important to have the right setup to make the most of your learning experience. Don’t worry—the requirements are straightforward, and I’ll guide you every step of the way. Here’s what you’ll need:
1. A Computer or Laptop
Let’s start with the basics: you’ll need a reliable computer or laptop. And no, don’t even think about using your smartphone! 😏 The bigger screen and full functionality of a proper computer make a world of difference.
2. A Headset or Earbuds + Microphone
Clear audio is key for effective communication. You’ll need either:
A headset with a built-in microphone, or
Earbuds paired with a separate microphone.
This ensures you can hear and be heard without background noise getting in the way.
3. A Reliable Webcam
A fully functioning and reliable webcam is essential for online lessons. It allows us to connect face-to-face, making the learning experience more engaging and personal. Plus, I’ll need to see those brilliant expressions of understanding when you nail a tricky concept!
4. Word Processing Software
You’ll need software like Microsoft Word (or a similar program) to complete your homework. It’s how we’ll keep assignments organised and easy to review.
5. The Ability to Take Screenshots
Sometimes, I’ll ask you to take a screenshot to capture notes, examples, or activities we’ve worked on together. Knowing how to do this quickly will save you time and keep everything tidy.
6. Access to a Printer
While not everything needs to be printed, having access to a printer can be incredibly useful. For example, you might want to print handouts or exercises to practise offline. You won’t need to do this during lessons.
7. A Second Screen (Optional but Recommended)
Although it’s not essential, having a second screen can make a huge difference to your learning experience. I use two screens to run my classes, and I highly recommend it if you can set it up. It’s a game-changer for multitasking and staying organised.
8. A Quiet, Private Room
To focus fully, you’ll need a quiet, private space where you won’t be disturbed during your lessons. This helps you stay engaged and make the most of our sessions. If you are having lessons at your workplace, ensure your colleagues know not to disturb you.
Final Thoughts
That’s it! With these essentials—and your positive learning mindset—you’ll be ready to dive into our lessons and make real progress.
