What English level do I need to work with you?I work with all levels from beginner to advanced. What is more important than your level though, is your attitude. I only work with clients who are motivated, happy to be guided to more effective learning, and who are willing to put in the work. Achieving the results I promise is a joint effort. I will do my part - but will you do yours? If the answer is yes, then we are probably a great match and will achieve great things together.
-
Do you work with children?Sometimes, yes. Depending on their needs. Get in touch and let me know what their goals is.
-
Will the coaching aspect really help me?Coaching can be a valuable addition to the educational experience. It provides personalised support and guidance, helping you identify and achieve your language goals. Through coaching, you will develop important skills such as self-awareness, problem-solving, and decision-making, which can benefit you both academically and personally. It won't help if you aren't willing to take criticism. It won't help if you a are keen on saying, "yes, but..." It WILL work if you want to find the answers to your problems inside yourself. It WILL work if you are ready to be challenged to do more, to be better.
-
How much do you charge?One-To-One = £60 an hour One-To-Two = £50 an hour One-To-Three = £40 an hour Course fees are always payable in advance. Depending on the total amnount of hours required, payment terms are usually available.

How long are your courses? How long is a piece of string? (An idiomatic expression, look it up in your Idiom Dictionary) Properly understanding my new clients' needs and learning goals is very important. We will have an Assessment Meeting and based on this assessment, I'll deliver a personalised Learning Plan Proposal, the length of which will depend on the needs of the learner as discussed at the meeting.

What equipment will I need?To work with me, you will need the following: A computer/laptop (don't you dare show up using your smartphone! 😏). A headset with a built in microphone OR ear buds + a separate microphone. A fully functioning and reliable web cam. Word, or similar word processing software (all your homework will be completed on this software). The ability to take a screen shot. Access to a printer. Although not essential, a second screen makes a HUGE difference to your learning experience. I use two screens when I am running my classes. A room which is quiet, private and will be undisturbed during your lessons. That's about it. Apart from those, just bring your learning mindset and we're off!
-
Do I need my own books? You will need an A4 notebook (don't even think about using anything smaller if you're serious about learning). Most of the materials we use will be created and provided by myself. If we decide you need a book, we will discuss that in the intitial Assessment Meeting.
-
Will I get a report? If you would like them, I can give you monthly reports. We can discuss this at the initial Assessment Meeting. You will definitely get a report at the end of your course detailing your improvements and areas covered.

What is coaching? The coaching relationship between us is critical. Honestly, you won't even notice you are being coached most of the time. We will work on your approach to learning, your mindset, and how you intend achieving your language goals. Your coach is your biggest supporter, your positive influence, your best friend. Your coach will push you to find your inner strength and wisdom; encourage you to be more honest with yourself; and challenge your limiting beliefs. When my clients use the strategies I teach them, learning happens naturally and easily.
-
Why do you coach AND teach?Put simply, I am an exceptionally talented English Language Teacher but my talents and skills were being wasted teaching students who were failing to be good learners. It felt as though I was banging my head against a brick wall. (look that idiom up in your Idiom Dictionary) They were making life so hard for themselves; and their language goals were always so far out of reach for them. I thought, why not help them to be better learners - then they will reach their language goals more easily. And THAT is why I founded Eternal English! I teach English with two hands. One hand to teach you English and the other to help you be a better learner. The combination of the two is EXTREMELY effective.
-
Do you teach face to face?Yes, I certainly do. If you are in Bath, UK, face to face lessons can be arranged.

Whether you need one lesson to drive home a particular grammar point, or a series of classes to make sure you understand a particular aspect of English skills - I'm here to help with flexibility and empathetic teaching-coaching.
-
Which platform do you use for the classes? All classes are conducted on Microsoft Teams. You will be given a link to your own class and that will be the same link throughout your course.

Allows you to use dictionaries. Provides the opportunity to use thesauruses. Gives you the time to ponder the handouts I have given you. Lets you refer to your previously corrected (and now perfect) writing so you can take chunks of useful language from them and insert into your new work. In short - writing homework is ESSENTIAL for your rapid understanding of English and how to best use it.
